Do you find yourself complaining about your child's poor food intake? Try these simple solutions at home:

Make the child sit with all the family members for eating atleast one mean a day. Introduce him to all food items on the plate that are cooked for the adults in the house. This gives the child a feeling that he is a part of the house and is often tempted to eat most items on his plate.

Junk food should not be a part or replacement of daily lunch or dinner. Acceptance or rejection of food by a child depends mostly on its presentation. Junk food served in hotels is always presented in an attractive manner. Therefore often a child eats the item outside but refuses the same made at home.

Children feel it a buden if they are served a full plate like an adult. It becomes a task rather than pleasure for them. Serve small quantities at a time to make him feel interested in more items.


HOW YOU SHOULD PACK VEGGIES AND FRUITS:

  • Roll the vegetable in a chapatti. Apply some ketchup, butter or a slice of cheese to enhance its taste and presentation.
  • Cut the same roll in small peices and present it like string roll.
  • Use green peas, carrots, french beans as well as cabbage in noodles instead of just onion and tomatoes.
  • Use a range of mashed vegetables in pav-bhaji.
  • Children like fruit salad and fruit shakes. Encourage the child to eat whole fruit than just the juices.
  • 2 cups of milk a day can be substituted with 2 slice of cheese or 100gm of sweetend curd. Use of ghee, butter, cheese can also fulfil a day's quota of milk.
