Nutrition is the provision to cells and organisms, of the materials necessary to support life. Study of food and how our body uses food as fuel for growth and daily activities is nutrition. Many common diseases can be prevented with the help of good nutrition. Diet is the food what an organism eats. Poor diet can have negative impact on health leading to deficiency disease as Kwashiorkor, Beriberi and health-threatening condition as obesity. Macronutrients include protein, carbohydrate and fats. Micronutrients include proteins and minerals. We need these micronutrients and macronutrients to be healthy. Nowadays researches shows that children who take well-balanced diet have lower health risk and perform much better in school.

More and more health experts are now concerned with growing numbers of obese and overweight kids. In past few years doctors have found teens and young kids suffering from the diseases that are typically found in middle aged people i.e. elevated blood sugar levels, hypertension and high cholesterol. Increasing weight problem in children can leads to cardiovascular problems, type 2 diabetes and even cancer. According to Melissa A. Kalt, assistant clinical professor of internal medicine/pediatrics at medical college of Wisconsin believes that health problems in kids arise not only from what they eat but also from when they eat. One concern is filler foods like crackers in animal shapes. Lot of parents offers their children with these filler foods. Problem with this food is that these taste good but they have no nutritional value. "Nutritious food provides the building blocks for strong muscles and bones, and so our metabolic processes can convert food to energy," says Melissa A. Kalt.

Most of us have experienced with intestinal illness that makes us miserable for few days and then disappear. We suffer from stomach cramps, headache, fever, vomiting. Researchers are now finding out that these diseases are due to group of viruses called norovirus. Noroviruses are transmitted when people consume food or water contaminated with feces from an infected person. The most common symptoms of infection with the Noroviruses are nausea with vomiting, diarrhea, and cramps. These symptoms occur in all age groups, although diarrhea is more common among adults and vomiting is more common in children. Thorough handwashing following toilet use and prior to handling food is the best way to prevent the spread of these viruses.
